Why grout in Tarzana floors goes dark

Grout sits lower than the tile face. It is porous portland cement. Dry gritty soil and DG get tracked in from yards and hillside streets, then ground into that recess by foot traffic. A mop only moves the slurry around. It dries back into the joint. So grout lines darken in lanes first, while the field tile still looks fine.
